Nadina Dimitriou: Idyll

Greek ravine

The light blues of shade

and coolness flee

from a ravine

towards an idyll.

Mountain slopes and fields

are witnesses.

Roots that lie near the surface

are footpaths

and intertwined shadows

are nests.

The sun talks gently

to memory, gasping

when lips are upturned

and eyelids give consent.

Idyll
